When backing up and restoring the data of Men & Mice Central, be sure to stop the service beforehand. Otherwise, the data tables might be corrupted.

You want to back up your Men & Mice configuration data, or you have already backed up your data and need to restore it from backup. The instructions are different for each platform type.

Solution

Backing Up

Stop the Men & Mice Central service. You can do this either through the Services window (part of the operating system) or by opening a command prompt and executing these commands - you may need to adjust the path used if you installed Men & Mice Central in a non-standard location:

C:

cd "\Program Files\Men and Mice\Central"

mmcentral.exe -stop
Then back up Men & Mice Central’s Data directory. This is by default the hidden directory ProgramData on the C drive:

C:\ProgramData\Men and Mice\Central

Please see also the article in the knowledge base about the Location of Men and Mice Central data directory. When you’re done, be sure to start up the service again. Once again, you can use the Services window, or you can use these shell commands:

C:

cd "\Program Files\Men and Mice\Central"

mmcentral.exe -start

Restoring

Install Men & Mice Central, if necessary, and then stop the service. Restore the Data directory from backup in:
C:\ProgramData\Men and Mice\Central

Please see also the article in the knowledge base about the Location of Men and Mice Central data directory.
Then start up the Men & Mice Central service again.
